Brain Injury in Children
Whether it’s the result of a sustained head trauma at birth or a childhood accident, Traumatic Brain Injury in a child can lead to impaired speech, communication, and motor function. While the severity of the condition may differ from child to child, an inability to move, communicate, and discover the world may lead to mental deterioration as the child grows up depending on other people for everyday tasks such as getting dressed, fed, and washed.
A child with traumatic brain injury may be caught in a vicious circle where the mental deterioration and erosion of social skills caused by his impaired mobility will make him even more physically and mentally impaired over time. As a result, it is important to begin his treatment as soon as possible.
Treatment for Child Brain Injury
Our team of extensively trained therapists are experts in treating children with traumatic brain injuries. The earlier a child is brought for treatment, the better. In some cases, a child who is treated properly from the early stages of his life can become completely independent, and will not need any assistive devices. At Health in Motion, we are proud to have helped several children gain their independence in every aspect of their lives. Depending on your child's condition, we may use a variety of different therapies as a part of his treatment program.
